Foreign Mercenaries in Donetsk People's Republic May Face Death Penalty

The Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) Prosecutor General's Office has concluded the investigation of a group of foreign mercenaries from Great Britain and Morocco, who may face the death penalty, announced Viktor Gavrilov, head of the department for investigating crimes against peace and humanity at the DPR Prosecutor General's Office.

According to him, the extensive testimonies obtained from British citizens Sean Pinner and Andrew Hily, as well as Moroccan national Saadun Brahimi, have confirmed their involvement in the commission of the specified illegal acts.

The criminal case against the mercenaries who participated in the preparation and conduct of military operations against the Donetsk People's Republic has been fully formed. The materials of the case have been transferred to one of the republic's courts for substantive review, during which the death penalty may be applied to the defendants considering the wartime context,” Gavrilov stated.

It is worth recalling that the Britons Sean Pinner and Aiden Aslin surrendered in mid-April while in Ukraine. Major General Igor Konashenkov, a spokesperson for the Russian Defense Ministry, stated that “the best thing awaiting them is a long term in prison.”
