A powerful tornado occurred in Morton, Texas. It damaged residential and industrial buildings in the city, uprooted trees, and cut power lines. Local authorities have urged residents to stay away from windows and remain indoors. Wind gusts reached speeds of 112 km/h, according to Fox News. There are currently no reports of injuries or fatalities.

Simultaneously, due to the tornado, more than 14,000 people in northern Michigan are without electricity. The city of Gaylord has been among the hardest hit, with dozens of homes destroyed. Governor Gretchen Whitmer declared a state of emergency on May 22. Experts are warning that Missouri, South Carolina, and Indiana could be at risk of severe weather in the coming days.
