How Long Will the Armenian Satellite Stay in Earth's Orbit? Details
The launch of the Republic of Armenia's first space satellite into Earth's orbit is a significant infrastructure development for the sector in the country. This was stated by Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry David Sahakyan during a conversation with journalists.
“This process started a long time ago, but it became more active in 2022. It is an important infrastructure for the formation of a space ecosystem in the country. During the Soviet period, Armenian scientists made significant achievements in this field, and now, considering our previous experience, we aim to restore those successes. The ecosystem is multilayered, and it involves the production of space equipment, software development, and so on. Armenia has that potential,” said the deputy minister, adding that the goal is to encourage the activation and development of enterprises in the sector, reports Armenpress.
Regarding the process of launching the Republic of Armenia's first space satellite into Earth's orbit, the deputy minister did not provide specific details due to confidentiality concerns. He only mentioned that the satellite will remain in orbit for at least four years.
Earlier, we reported that there is no information about Armenia's satellite on the official Wikipedia page of SpaceX, while the list of all countries whose satellites have been launched into orbit has been published. According to the information, Armenia has only purchased permission for certain photographic operations from a satellite owned by a private company in Spain.
