Russian Ambassador Visits Syunik Province
The Russian Ambassador to Armenia, Sergey Kopirkin, has visited the Syunik Province of Armenia. According to the press service of the embassy, Kopirkin paid tribute to the members of the Mi-24 helicopter crew who lost their lives near the village of Yeraskh while performing a combat mission in 2020, accompanied by the leadership of the Border Guard Department of the FSB of Russia in Armenia.
The ambassador also visited the border checkpoints "Tegh" and "Paruir Sevak," where he met with Russian border guards and familiarized himself with their daily routines and combat training activities.
In Kapan, the city’s representatives welcomed Kopirkin, expressing gratitude on behalf of the city’s residents for Russia’s support in implementing socio-economic development projects and for the participation of the border guards in ensuring security in the region.
The ambassador also visited the positions of Russian border guards located near Kapan Airport. Colonel A.V. Burshtin, the commander of the Meghri border detachment, briefed the diplomatic mission leader on the specifics of the operational situation developing in this area of the Armenian border.
