Biden Addresses Incident at Texas School

U.S. President Joe Biden has stated that the United States Congress must take measures to prevent new incidents related to shootings in public places, especially educational institutions, according to Armenpress.

“As a nation, we must ask: when, for God’s sake, are we going to gather to confront the gun lobby?” the president said in a message to the nation after a shooting at one of the schools in South Texas, where 18 children and two adults have been confirmed dead.

Earlier, Biden ordered flags to be lowered in memory of the victims. According to reports, the school shooter was 18-year-old Salvador Ramos, who was killed by police arriving at the scene. During the exchange of gunfire, two officers sustained minor injuries.

According to authorities, the shooter left his vehicle near the school, entered the building armed with a handgun and, according to some reports, a rifle. Prior to heading to the school, Ramos shot his grandmother, who is currently alive and hospitalized. The motives behind the crime have not yet been clarified, Interfax reported.
