Tragic Incident in Kotayk Province: 18-Year-Old Discovers 11-Year-Old Brother Hanged from a Tree in Yard

A tragic and mysterious incident occurred in Kotayk Province on May 21. At around 19:40, the Kotayk police received a report from the "Abovyan" medical center that a medical team had responded to a call to a village in the Kotayk region, where they discovered the body of a child hanging from a cherry tree in the yard of a house.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, police officials, including Kotayk regional police chief Artur Zohrabyan, head of the Kotayk division Khachatryan, and Garniq Matevosyan, head of the investigative department of the Kotayk regional investigative committee in Abovyan, were dispatched to the scene. The prosecutor of Kotayk Province, Petrosyan, also arrived.

Authorities found the body of an 11-year-old boy in the backyard of his home in the specified village. G. Shamshyan reported that the boy was discovered hanging from the tree by his 18-year-old sister, who called for help from neighbors. They lowered the boy, but he was already deceased.

Investigations are being prepared in the Abovyan investigative department regarding the incident. Necessary investigative measures are being taken to clarify the circumstances of the case. The investigator has ordered several examinations, including a forensic examination of the body.

It remains to be determined whether this was an unfortunate accident, suicide, or murder.
