Graves of Artsakh War Soldiers to be Improved in Regions Based on 'Yerablur' Model

The gravestones of soldiers who were buried in Armenia’s regions after the Artsakh war will be prepared and installed by the state, just as it was done at the 'Yerablur' military pantheon in Yerevan.

This proposal was put forward by the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia. The draft decision has been published on the public platform for legal acts.

According to the draft, 67 gravestones will be prepared and installed, with 66 in Sisian and 1 in Tavush region. Based on the information provided by the Sisian municipality, out of the 67 deceased, 66 lost their lives in the 44-day war, while one, Hayk Samveli Karamyan, was killed in 2018 during military service.

Hayk Karamyan is buried in the Sisian cemetery, where Vahe Arsen Karamyan, who died in the 44-day war, is also buried. It is noted that the gravestones for both servicemen have not yet been installed because their families have not received compensation for the improvement of the graves, gravestone preparation, and installation.

A budget of 77.5 million drams is proposed for the preparation and installation of the 67 gravestones. The design and cost of the gravestones are based on the model acquired by the Ministry of Defense for the 'Yerablur' military pantheon.

The project has been open to public discussion since today. It will be presented for government approval after June 7. In August 2021, the Ministry of Defense had beautified 1,000 graves in the 'Yerablur' military pantheon, with estimated expenses of around 1.5 billion drams.
