More than 1900 have already surrendered, Shoigu provides details about Azovstal

More than 1900 nationalists who were trapped at the Azovstal plant in Mariupol have already surrendered. This announcement was made by Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu during a meeting of the Russian Defense Ministry's collegium.

According to him, Azovstal remains blocked, and civilians who were being held there by Ukrainian nationalists have been evacuated from the facility.

“177 people have been rescued, including 85 women and 47 children. All have received quality medical and psychological assistance. Nationalists trapped in the plant have started to surrender,” Shoigu stated.

He also reminded that earlier, 1387 Ukrainian marines had laid down their arms. The combined forces of Russia, the LPR, and the DPR continue to expand their control over territories in Donbas, with the liberation of the LPR nearing completion.
