Extraordinary Incident in Vanadzor: Armenian Ministry of Defense Contract Soldier Insults Police from Mercedes
On May 18, an extraordinary incident occurred in the Lori region. Around 11:00 PM, Ara M., a police officer from the first platoon of the first company of the patrol service in Lori, was on duty with senior officer K. N. at the beginning of Karen Demirchyan Street in Vanadzor, when they heard insults directed at them from a passing Mercedes vehicle.
As reported by Shamshyan.com, the officers stopped the Mercedes to identify the violators. Four young men exited the vehicle, one of whom approached Ara M. and hurled more insults at the police, before striking him in the face.
The police warned the man several times to cease his disrespectful behavior, but he not only ignored their legal orders but continued his actions. The officers were forced to detain him, but the other three individuals began obstructing the police's legal activities. With no other option, special measures were applied, including the use of pepper spray, and they handcuffed the young man before placing him in a service Toyota Camry. Additional officers who arrived on the scene subsequently detained all individuals involved and took them to the Taroni division of the Vanadzor police.
According to G. Shamshyan's reports, it has been established that the individual who did not comply with police orders and used violence is 25-year-old Gevorg P. from Stepanyan. The three others with him are also residents of Stepanyan: 27-year-old Samvel K., 24-year-old Aram M., and 28-year-old Albert T. The latter were later released. The materials prepared at the Taroni division of the police have been forwarded to the Lori regional prosecutor's office to decide on jurisdiction.
According to G. Shamshyan, Gevorg P. serves as a contract soldier in the Armenian Ministry of Defense's military unit N.
