I Am Not a Protester, I Saw the Police Beating a Young Man and Intervened: 77-Year-Old Woman Injured Speaks Out
A 77-year-old woman, Julia Hovhannisyan, recounts her experience of intervening when police were violently detaining a young man during protests in Yerevan.

I was just passing by, I saw a young guy being thrown down and beaten, and I intervened. This is what Julia Hovhannisyan said in an interview with NEWS.am, who sustained a fracture in her arm as a result of the brutal police actions during protests that took place yesterday in Yerevan.

"I am not a protester, I was just passing by. When the incident happened, my vision went black. I don't know if it was instinctive or if they accidentally pushed me. I don't remember anything else. Later, the protesters came and moved me away from the scene and called for an ambulance," she stated.

A relative of Ms. Hovhannisyan informed that they are preparing to file a report with the police regarding the incident.

It is worth noting that yesterday, at the pedestrian crossing of the Kyivian-Orbeli intersection in Yerevan, a scuffle occurred, resulting in the 77-year-old Julia Hovhannisyan being taken to Nairi Medical Center, where she was diagnosed with a fracture in her left arm.
