Garik Galeyan Released: The Measure of Restraint is Not to Leave the Place

In the Fourth Garrison Investigation Department of the Military Investigation Main Directorate of the RA Investigative Committee, within the framework of a criminal case investigating the illegal entry into Military Unit N, the use of violence against the deputy commander, and inflicting serious insult, sufficient evidence has been obtained. Garik Galeyan was charged on May 18, 2022, under Article 327.6, Part 3, Point 1, Article 137.1, Part 1, and Article 316, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code.

He was arrested based on an investigator's decision established in accordance with Article 130 of the RA Criminal Procedure Code. The defense presented documents indicating that Garik Galeyan’s wife, A. Galeyan, is confirmed to be 29-30 weeks pregnant. Additionally, approximately six weeks ago, Garik Galeyan was diagnosed with 'Ischemic heart disease, unstable angina, myocardial infarction, ischemic cardiomyopathy,' due to which he underwent stenting as part of medical intervention.

During his detention, Garik Galeyan was diagnosed with 'S.I.H. hypertensive crisis,' and he was admitted for in-patient treatment at the cardiology department of the 'Astghik' medical center around 1:00 PM. In view of the absence of the necessity to keep the individual in custody, the prosecuting authority decided to release Garik Galeyan from detention, applying the measure of restraint not to leave the place.

It should be noted that within the framework of the criminal proceedings, on May 18 of this year, the prosecuting authority also decided to involve Arthur Galeyan as a defendant under Article 327.6, Part 3, Point 1, Article 137.1, Part 1, and Article 316, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code, who was arrested in accordance with Article 130 of the RA Criminal Procedure Code, and a petition was submitted to the Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan for his detention as a measure of restraint.
