VIDEO: Citizen Who Called Pashinyan a 'Traitor' Dismissed from Job
Samuel Vardanyan, the citizen who called Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan a 'traitor' on the street yesterday evening, has been dismissed from his job following the incident. In a conversation with NEWS.am, Samuel shared that he had been working for about a month as a night administrator at one of Yerevan's hotels, which he currently prefers not to name. He was on his way to work yesterday when he saw Pashinyan coming out of the office of the 'Civil Contract' party and shouted 'traitor'.
“I had a very unpleasant conversation with the management at my workplace. They reacted very poorly to the incident. They said that I should not step foot in their premises after that and tried to convince me that my actions were wrong, but I of course insisted otherwise. Thus we mutually understood that it would no longer be possible to continue working,” Samuel stated.
According to Samuel, he had given the same description to other members of the previous ruling party before without facing any consequences. However, after calling Pashinyan a 'traitor,' more than ten police officers approached him and detained him on suspicion of carrying a cold weapon. After discovering nothing, he was released two hours later.
“I’m not the only one who calls him a traitor; there are many people in the country who think the same way. I certainly do not regret it and am not discouraged; I will do the same again,” Samuel Vardanyan told the reporter.
