Producer Armen Grigoryan Arrested, NSS Reports

The National Security Service of Armenia (NSS) has reported that producer Armen Grigoryan has been arrested for publicly humiliating national dignity. An inquiry has been submitted to the court for his detention as a preventive measure.

Interviews given by Armen Grigoryan at the 'Hayeli' club and other venues have been published online and in mass media, during which he openly disrespected the national dignity of the residents of Shirak and Ararat valleys, ignoring the principle of the inviolability of human dignity enshrined in the Armenian Constitution. He also questioned their ethnic origins with fictional concepts.

Armen Grigoryan has been arrested under Article 226, Part 2 of the Armenian Criminal Code for committing an offense associated with publicly humiliating national dignity. Additionally, the investigator has submitted a request to the court to apply detention as a preventive measure.

The NSS warns that it will continue to pursue similar manifestations aimed at humiliating national dignity and inciting national hostility within the framework of its authority. It will take appropriate measures to uncover these crimes and bring the perpetrators to criminal responsibility. Furthermore, the NSS informs that imprisonment for this criminal act is foreseen under the Armenian Criminal Code for a term of 3 to 6 years.

Notice: A suspect or an accused individual is presumed innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedure established by the Armenian Criminal Procedure Code and a legally binding court verdict.
