NASA Expresses Discontent Over Complications from Anti-Russian Sanctions
Western sanctions against Russia have begun to impact the work of NASA's astronauts. This is reported by SpaceNews.
During a meeting of the Advisory Group on Aeronautics and Space Safety, it was noted that the partnership between the US and Russia in the space sector is feeling the effects of economic restrictions.
“Geopolitical sanctions imposed against Russia have created an environment where certain administrative difficulties have become apparent,” said group member and former astronaut Susan Helms.
She expressed concern that foreign airlines are reducing or canceling flights to Moscow, credit cards are not working in Russia due to the suspension of foreign bank operations, and “Microsoft” has halted the sale of its products and services in the country.
“However, both sides are doing their utmost to maintain the connections,” Helms emphasized.
According to her, NASA is firmly advocating for the idea of “cross-flight” missions, where astronauts would fly on Soyuz spacecraft while Russian cosmonauts would head to the ISS on private Crew Dragons.
