Individuals in Police Uniforms Are Not Police Officers
The Police of the Republic of Armenia has issued a clarification regarding images and information circulating on social media that depict individuals in police uniforms, claiming that they recently left the police service. It is necessary to clarify that these individuals have not been police officers for over a year.
Recently, media outlets, social networks, and political figures have shared reports suggesting that many police officers have submitted resignation letters in recent days. Specifically, information about three officers has been circulated.
In this regard, we inform that police officers Khachik Tovmasyan and Narek Harutyunyan have not submitted any resignation letters to leave the police service, and they remain serving as police officers. On the other hand, Benik Arzumanyan left the police on May 12, based on a resignation letter he submitted on April 7.
It is important to emphasize that on April 7, there were no political actions taking place in the country. The police force is an apolitical entity, with the primary objectives of ensuring public safety and combating crime. We urge everyone to refrain from involving the police in political processes.
