We Will Appeal to the Court to Suspend the Activities of Soros Foundation in Armenia, Lawyer Says

The corrupt oligarch George Soros's "Open Society Foundations", funded by his money, sows seeds of division and degradation across the world, splitting societies into minorities and fostering intolerance between the public groups he himself has divided. This was stated by lawyer Tigran Atanesyan on his Facebook page.

He particularly noted: "Our Armenian example clearly shows that this foundation and its beneficiaries, the Soros affiliates, are far from the real goal of building a civil society. The actual purpose of this foundation is the complete destruction of a specific state for its far-reaching and calculable political objectives.

Many of you will remember how, prior to the 'revolution', Sorosian 'human rights defenders' made a ruckus around any issue, creating a loud clamor in the media they created or controlled, for instance, regarding real or alleged minor violations of human rights. It seemed that these people genuinely believed in the ideas they pronounced at every convenient or inconvenient moment. Of course, analytical thinkers noticed even then that their proclaimed ideas were merely a guise, indicating that the real objective was entirely different.

Today, when the rights of opposition figures are massively violated, when the judiciary system has been virtually destroyed, and the institution of the Human Rights Defender has been nullified, while state bodies are unresponsive to the arbitrary actions against people, all these Soros affiliates are either silent or directly support the violators in various ways.

The anti-Armenian propaganda organized or achieved by Soros's affiliates, under the guise of false peace efforts and active collaboration with the enemy, has led us to a defeated Armenia, a devastated statehood, the loss of Artsakh, and most tragically, 5,000 Armenian lives.

In these days, Soros's mercenaries are giving ordered speeches promoting the ceding of Artsakh to the enemy. To get Armenia out of this situation, as a first step, legal measures must be taken to ban the activities of Soros's foundation and dissolve it within the territory of Armenia. I repeat, the foundation must be dissolved in strict compliance with the law.

Currently, a criminal case is being examined in the first instance general jurisdiction court of Yerevan, in which a beneficiary of Soros’s foundation has been charged with actions aimed at inciting national enmity between Yazidis and Armenians. The perpetrator received a substantial sum from corrupt oligarch Soros. The Soros foundation is frantically engaged in defending their partner who has found themselves in the defendant's seat, and this is not surprising since in a normal country, such criminal prosecution could serve as a legal basis to recognize the foundation’s activities as illegal and dangerous to the public, and as a result, to ban those activities.

It is true that a guilty verdict has not yet been made and has not entered into legal force, and the presumption of innocence applies, but considering the critical situation in the country and the imperative need to urgently cease the operations of the foreign agency network, I and several of my lawyer colleagues have decided to appeal to the court to demand the suspension of the Soros foundation’s activities in the Republic of Armenia.

Below, I present the legislative basis for the dissolution of the Soros foundation in Armenia: according to Article 34 of the RA Law on Foundations, a Foundation may be dissolved by the court if, in particular, its activities pose a threat to state and public security, public order, the health and morals of the public, or the rights and freedoms of others; the application for dissolution may be submitted to the court by any concerned party.

We believe that any citizen of the RA can demand the dissolution of this foundation if its and its beneficiaries' activities violate the laws of the RA. Thank you, let’s get to work."
