Violations at Zvartnots Airport: Revelations by the State Control Service and NSS

The State Control Service of Armenia, in cooperation with the National Security Service, has obtained information regarding the VIP lounge service provided by the Armenia International Airports LLC. It was revealed that between 55,000 to 75,000 Armenian drams were charged from citizens for high-quality service, with only 5,000 drams deposited in the cash register. This amount was registered without the knowledge of the parties involved, pretending that they were relatives of passengers holding diplomatic passports or members of an official delegation. The remaining large sums of money obtained through illegal means were distributed among the company’s employees.

As part of its oversight functions, the State Control Service reported that the aforementioned payments had not been fully taxed due to their not being recorded in the LLC's cash register. Consequently, the information was forwarded to the State Revenue Committee of Armenia to conduct necessary control measures within their authority. As a result, a clarified profit tax calculation has been submitted to the tax authorities, and the entire amount of damage caused to the state, amounting to 6,519,000 drams in profit tax, has been recalculated and paid into the state budget.
