Pentagon Chief and Shoigu Have Negotiated for Over an Hour
On May 13, U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu held negotiations that lasted nearly an hour and did not result in any concrete resolutions. This was reported by Reuters, citing a representative of the U.S. administration, as reported by Газета.
According to the official, "the call that Austin had requested lasted about an hour, but did not solve any specific issues or result in any immediate changes" related to the Russian special operation in Ukraine.
It was previously mentioned that the defense leaders of Russia and the U.S. spoke for the first time since mid-February. The parties discussed issues related to Ukraine. The Pentagon emphasized that Austin urged Shoigu to immediately cease fire in Ukraine and highlighted the importance of maintaining communication lines between the military departments of the two countries.
