Extraordinary Council Elections in Talin Community
The government of the Republic of Armenia has decided to prematurely terminate the powers of the council of the Talin community in the Aragatsotn region and appoint extraordinary elections for the council. This proposal is included in the list of issues not reported by the government.
The government suggests that the Central Electoral Commission of the Republic of Armenia set a date for the extraordinary council elections in Talin community within a week after the entry into force of this decision.
On December 5, proportional elections for the council were held in the Talin consolidated community of Aragatsotn province. On December 17, the first session of the Talin community council took place, during which Tavros Sapeian was elected the head of the community, however, to date, the swearing-in ceremony of the elected community head has not taken place due to the lack of quorum among council members.
Since February 8, council meetings in the Talin community have not been convened or held, as they should have been called by the community head, yet the elected head has not assumed his powers. "The government of the Republic of Armenia can prematurely terminate the powers of the council if the council meetings are not convened for more than three months during a regular session." This deadline expired on May 8.
