VIDEO: Young Man Displaying Russian Flag in Latvia to Face Criminal Charges
A young man in Latvia who displayed the flag of the Russian Federation is set to face criminal liability for justifying genocide. He proudly showed the Russian flag during a double wreath-laying ceremony on Victory Day.
At the time, the police attempted to detain him, but it was found that there were insufficient grounds for arrest. The display of symbols that provoke negative reactions from the public was only prohibited on May 9.
However, as reported by Sputnik Latvia, law enforcement authorities have detained Alexander regardless. The young man's mother stated that her son was arrested in accordance with Article 74.1 of the criminal law, which pertains to the justification of genocide and crimes against humanity in armed conflict.
