Poisoning from Self-Collected Mushrooms Reported

A case of mushroom poisoning has been reported. This was announced by the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health.

“In the Kotayk region, a case of mushroom poisoning has been registered with one victim. Medical assistance has been provided to the victim, who is currently hospitalized in stable condition. The individual consumed mushrooms collected by themselves.

To prevent mushroom poisoning and subsequent complications, the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention reiterates warnings: do not consume mushrooms of unknown origin; do not collect mushrooms from roadside areas; do not rely on pictures to differentiate edible and poisonous mushrooms, as poisonous varieties often grow near edible ones and can closely resemble them; do not feed mushrooms to children; individuals with gastrointestinal issues are advised not to consume mushrooms; do not combine mushrooms with alcohol, as it activates certain toxic substances; and avoid self-medication,” the statement reads.
