Motion Submitted to Question Nikol Pashinyan as a Witness: Lawyer
It has been stated that a group of officials carried out actions that affected the combat readiness of the army. All parents object to this descriptive part and have all indicated that their demand is not satisfied, as the sole responsible person for their sons' deaths is Nikol Pashinyan. This conclusion was reached after Pashinyan's statement on April 13, and they demand that Nikol Pashinyan be mentioned as the perpetrator of these actions in the decision recognizing the victim's legal successor.
This was noted today, on May 12, during a conversation with journalists near the building of the Investigative Committee by lawyer Vahan Ghavinyan, who represents the parents of the fallen soldiers. He reported that a very general legal assessment had been given to the acts in the decision recognizing the victim's legal successor, particularly, specific names were not mentioned for the alleged individuals who committed the crime.
“It is mentioned that a group of officials performed actions that affected the combat readiness of the army. All parents object to this descriptive part and have noted that their demand is not satisfied, as the sole responsible person and the sole guilty party for their sons' deaths is Nikol Pashinyan, which they concluded after Pashinyan's statement on April 13, and they demand that Nikol Pashinyan be named as the perpetrator of these actions in the decision recognizing the victim's legal successor,” said the lawyer.
Ghavinyan informed that on May 7 they submitted a motion to question Nikol Pashinyan as a witness so that the prosecutor general would issue such an order. “We cited two groups of circumstances that needed clarification. For example, handing over the lands of the Syunik region to the enemy based on his statement in December, and the other one pertains to the statement made on April 13. Today we were informed that our motion to question Nikol Pashinyan has been granted. The prosecutor has instructed the investigative body to question Nikol Pashinyan. I currently do not have information on when. The investigator will decide when this questioning will take place. I hope it will be done soon. To rule out further inaction, we will submit a sharper, more aggressive motion later in the second half of the day regarding specific procedural actions against Nikol Pashinyan,” the lawyer stated.
He noted that 27 individuals have been recognized as victims' legal successors, and they have submitted a motion regarding an additional 15, and the process is ongoing. “At this moment, the question of involving Nikol Pashinyan as an accused is in a postponed state. We will pursue that Pashinyan's questioning takes place in the premises of the investigative unit, as he does not have any advantages over any citizen of the Republic of Armenia, especially since his actions exhibit features of a manifest crime,” stated Vahan Ghavinyan.
