It Was an Extremely Sad Day for the Opposition, Lessons Must Be Learned: Political Analyst
Political analyst Suren Surenyan's statement:
“Of course, for understandable reasons, Nikol Pashinyan's public statements have lost their value, and the reason is that the current Prime Minister has been making contradictory statements. On the other hand, in the Netherlands, Pashinyan has made several announcements regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh issue and the Armenian-Azerbaijani dialogue. These could at least partially dispel the concerns that have been the occasion for the recent opposition actions.
What I mean is that the opposition has received a signal to retreat from radical positions and negotiate with the government in parliamentary and other formats, provided that the main purpose of the actions is the security of Armenia and Artsakh.
If the parliamentary opposition chooses the path of dialogue, it can not only politically justify its recent actions but also claim that its actions have contributed to neutralizing external political risks.
However, if the focus remains on generating antagonistic sentiments and engaging in reckless actions like the ‘siege’ of the Yerevan city hall, the movement will become marginalized over the coming days, with all the consequences that follow.
Yesterday was an extremely sad day for the opposition; lessons must be learned.”
