Details of Discussions Between Lavrov, Mirzoyan, and Bayramov Revealed

On May 12, a meeting was held in Dushanbe between the foreign ministers of Armenia, Russia, and Azerbaijan. The discussions focused on the implementation of commitments made in the trilateral statements of November 9, 2020, January 11, 2021, and November 26, 2021. This information was provided by the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Exchanges of views took place regarding the unblocking of regional communications and economic ties, the establishment of a commission on demarcation and border security, as well as the preparation of a peace treaty to regulate relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Minister Mirzoyan reiterated the Armenian side's position on ensuring the security, rights, and freedoms of the Armenian population in Nagorno-Karabakh as part of a comprehensive resolution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. He also emphasized the importance of promptly addressing the humanitarian issues arising from the 44-day war, including the urgent need for the immediate repatriation of Armenian prisoners of war.

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also issued a statement regarding the meeting. According to the report, the foreign ministers of Armenia, Russia, and Azerbaijan discussed the preparation of a peace treaty to regulate relations between Yerevan and Baku. "The heads of foreign affairs agencies discussed joint efforts aimed at normalizing Armenian-Azerbaijani relations. They reaffirmed the commitment of the leaders of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Armenia, and the Russian Federation to strictly adhere to all provisions of the statements of November 9, 2020, January 11, 2021, and November 26, 2021. Progress in key areas of the implementation of trilateral agreements was noted, including the unblocking of economic and transport links in the region through the trilateral working group co-chaired by the Deputy Prime Ministers of Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia, as well as efforts to launch the demarcation process of the Azerbaijani-Armenian border with the advisory support of Russia at the request of the parties."

Furthermore, the topic of preparing the peace treaty aimed at normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia was discussed, with the Russian side expressing its readiness to facilitate this process in every possible way. The ministers expressed support for the continuation of dialogue between representatives of the societies of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia with the participation of the Russian Federation.
