No Reductions of Faculty Positions Planned at Yerevan State University

Yerevan State University (YSU) has denied rumors regarding the reduction of faculty positions and the elimination of teaching staff.

On May 5, YSU Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, along with Vice Rectors Elina Asryan, Rafael Barkhudaryan, and Mikayel Hovhannisyan, met with the deans of faculties to discuss proposed changes to the educational process, the organization of academic activities, and the ongoing reforms at YSU.

During the meeting, the deans voiced their concerns and issues, while the vice rectors presented programs for reforms that are currently being implemented or planned.

In light of the misinformation that followed this meeting, YSU sent a notice to all staff on May 10, 2022, stating that there are no planned reductions of faculty positions or eliminations of staff, and that the information circulating in the media does not reflect reality.

YSU communicates that such meetings are held regularly and as needed. Employees are requested not to succumb to media manipulation and to verify the accuracy of information directly with YSU's public relations and marketing department.
