Father Spoke at Length with Argishti Late Last Night: New Details on the Deceased Conscription Soldier

Argishti Yegheyan, who sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the chest at one of the military units of the Armenian Ministry of Defense on May 11, was from the Shaki community in the Syunik province. The 20-year-old Argishti had been conscripted into the army just over a year ago.

In an interview with NEWS.am, Ruben Manucharyan, the administrative head of the Shaki community, stated that they learned of Argishti's death in the morning. “His father spoke at length with Argishti late last night. Everything was fine with the boy; he was in high spirits, happy. But we don’t know why this happened—hopefully, the relevant authorities will clarify. A few days ago, I also had the opportunity to talk to him via video call; he was in good spirits and had no worries,” the village head recounted.

Argishti Yegheyan was a first-year student in the Department of English, Spanish, and Communication at Yerevan State University. “Due to his exceptional abilities, he was taken to the United States while he was still a student. He returned because of the coronavirus pandemic. Argishti was a balanced, educated, developed, and intelligent boy,” Manucharyan added.
