Azerbaijani Scholar Who Called Marshal Zhukov a 'Thief' Wanted

An Azerbaijani scholar, Rovshan Askerov, who participated in the television quiz show 'What? Where? When?' is wanted by authorities under a criminal article, according to TASS, referencing the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs. As previously reported, Askerov referred to Marshal Georgy Zhukov as a 'seasoned robber, thief, and uniformed murderer' in a Facebook post.

'Rovshan Askerov, born on May 4, 1972, is wanted under the Criminal Code article,' states the search database. However, the specific article under which he is being sought is not disclosed.

It was earlier reported that Russian investigators have opened a criminal case against Askerov for publications regarding the revival of Nazism on social networks. The Russian Investigative Committee has determined that on April 6, Askerov posted defamatory and discrediting false information on his Facebook page about the memory of Soviet Marshal Georgy Zhukov.

The Azerbaijani national faces charges under part four of Article 354.1 of the Russian Criminal Code, which carries a penalty of up to five years in prison.
