Rutube Video Service Suffers Powerful Cyber Attack, Unable to Recover
The Russian Rutube video service was subjected to a hacker attack on the morning of May 9. Around 7:00 AM Moscow time, a message appeared on the hosting's Telegram channel regarding a "powerful cyber attack." This was reported by Meduza.
Rutube officials stated that they are working to restore the service's accessibility. An hour later, the service announced that it had "localised the incident" and promised to provide information about the recovery timeline in the near future.
By approximately 6:00 PM, Rutube's press service informed that user data had been preserved and technical work was underway. A similar message was posted on the service's website.
On the morning of May 10, sources from The Village reported that the Rutube website may be irrecoverable following the cyber attack.
