Statue of Jesus Christ Selected

The statue of Jesus has been selected. According to the social media accounts of Gagik Tsarukyan, the winner of the citizens' competition and voting is sculptor Armen Samvelyan's design.

“Today, the competitive phase for the monumental statue-complex of Jesus Christ was concluded. The commission and the public were in agreement. I congratulate the talented sculptor Armen Samvelyan and thank everyone for their responsible and professional approach. I am pleased that the idea of having a monumental statue-complex of the Savior united sculptors from Armenia, Artsakh, and the Diaspora. I am grateful to the commission for their dedicated work over more than four months. Armenia must be able to present itself to the world in a new way; we are a nation with ancient culture, ancient literature, and ancient history, and the world should recognize us as such,” the message on Gagik Tsarukyan's Facebook page reads.

It is worth noting that, at the request of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, the monument should be installed in an area that does not have cultural and historical value.
