Closed-Door Session for Robert Kocharyan's Case Begins: What Stage is the Case In?

At the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction, a hearing is underway for the case involving the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, and former Deputy Prime Minister Armen Gevorgyan.

During the session, the defense lawyers first presented motions to change Robert Kocharyan's preventive measure and to grant Armen Gevorgyan permission to leave the country.

Judge Anna Danibekyan announced that they would first proceed with the examination of evidence, followed by discussions on the motions.

The defense expressed disagreement and requested a recess for consultation. The judge rejected the motion, stating that they could consult quietly on-site, after which the defense exited the courtroom without permission.

The court noted that the defense had left the courtroom without authorization. The judge indicated that if the defense did not return within a minute, the session would be postponed. The prosecution remarked that the defense's actions aimed to exclude the examination of evidence.

Kocharyan's attorney returned to the courtroom and moved to conduct the examination of existing evidence in a closed-door session. The judge granted the motion, and the session continues in a closed format.
