Poland's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Comments on Assault on Russian Ambassador
Poland's Ministry of Foreign Affairs acknowledges the seriousness of the situation. This statement was made by the press secretary of Poland's foreign policy department, Lukasz Jasina, while commenting on the assault on Russian Ambassador Sergey Andreyev.
Earlier, it was reported that during a ceremony to lay a wreath at the Soviet soldiers' cemetery in Warsaw, the Russian ambassador was attacked and had red liquid thrown over him.
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is taking steps to ensure that the Polish side takes appropriate actions following the attack on the Russian ambassador. Furthermore, the Russian Ministry has demanded that Warsaw immediately organize a ceremony for laying the wreath while providing full security against all kinds of provocations.
“We understand the seriousness of the situation and are monitoring it,” said Jasina.
It is noteworthy that Andreyev had gone to the memorial cemetery located at the intersection of Zwirki and Wigury streets in Warsaw, accompanied by diplomats and his wife. Aggressive Poles and Ukrainians gathered in the cemetery area blocked his path, shouting offensive slogans. They threw red liquid on the ambassador and the people accompanying him. A few minutes later, the police arrived and pushed back the crowd. The ambassador left the attack site with his companions.
The Russian Investigative Committee has stated that it will clarify the circumstances of the assault on Russian diplomats in Poland, identify those involved, and take measures to bring them to criminal responsibility.
