The United Kingdom to Provide Military Aid to Ukraine Again
The United Kingdom has announced it will allocate an additional £1.3 billion (or $1.6 billion) to Ukraine as military assistance, according to Reuters.
The UK government has already sent anti-tank missiles, air defense systems, and other armaments to Ukraine. The new commitment nearly doubles the UK's previous spending on assistance for Ukraine. The government has stated that this marks the highest level of spending since the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Officials from the UK have indicated that the additional funds for Ukraine will be sourced from contingency reserves the government utilizes in emergencies. Additionally, the government announced that Prime Minister Boris Johnson will meet with leaders of military companies at the end of the month to discuss increasing production volumes in response to the rising demand due to the situation surrounding Ukraine.
