We Are Not Sending NATO Troops to Ukraine: Stoltenberg
NATO supports Ukraine but does not plan to become a party to the conflict, and it is necessary to avoid the spread of military operations to other countries. This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in an interview published in Welt am Sonntag.
"Unfortunately, we must be prepared for a long war in Ukraine, which could last for months and even years. In the long term, Ukraine cannot defend itself with Soviet-era weapons and needs to transition to modern Western weapons. Ukraine urgently requires more heavy weaponry, and the West must intensify supplies," he said.
According to the Secretary General, everything must be done to prevent the conflict from spreading to other countries. "Therefore, we are not sending NATO troops to Ukraine," Stoltenberg clarified, "we support this country, but NATO consciously is not becoming a party to the war."
