The Investigative Committee of Armenia has initiated a criminal case under the second part of Article 163, Clause 3 of the RA Criminal Code at the regional investigative department of the Armavir Province. The investigation is aimed at clarifying all circumstances surrounding the case of materially incentivizing a resident of Armavir Province to participate in gatherings organized by the political opposition.

This information was provided by the Investigative Committee.

On May 5, 2022, a publication and video circulated online in which two individuals discuss receiving money from organizers for participation in organized gatherings during a phone conversation. As a result of conducted measures, the identities of the mentioned individuals were established, who are residents born in 1966 and 1967 from Armavir Province.

Data have been obtained indicating that the organizers of the political opposition's initiatives materially incentivized one of these residents to participate in gatherings held in Yerevan, and in turn, he incentivized other individuals.

The two mentioned residents of Armavir Province have been arrested. The aforementioned video has been examined, and instructions have been issued to the investigative body. Necessary investigative and procedural actions are being undertaken to ensure a complete, objective, and multifaceted examination of the case circumstances.

Notice: An individual suspected or accused of a crime is considered innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedure established by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia, by a court decision that has entered into legal force.
