Russia's Foreign Ministry on Protests in Armenia
The protests in Armenia are an internal matter for the country. This opinion was expressed by Alexei Zaytsev, Deputy Head of the Information and Press Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, during a briefing.
"This is an internal affair of Armenia. We are interested in the stability and peaceful development of the country. We believe that all issues should be resolved exclusively within the legal and constitutional framework, and in accordance with democratic procedures," Zaytsev stated.
Commenting on the connection between the rallies and the Armenian-Azerbaijani settlement process, he noted that Moscow believes the issue is not about the opposition's stance on the reached trilateral agreements, but rather about the interpretation of certain statements made by the Armenian leadership.
"In this regard, I would like to draw attention once again to the fact that we remain committed to actively supporting the resolution of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, primarily through the implementation of all provisions of the trilateral statements and by concluding a peace agreement between Yerevan and Baku," Zaytsev emphasized.
It should be recalled that since May 2, protests organized by opposition forces have resumed in Yerevan. Participants are demanding the resignation of the government due to its policy concerning Artsakh.
