Yerevan Municipality on Citizen's Death in France Square
The Yerevan Municipality has released a clarification regarding the case of a citizen whose condition sharply deteriorated in France Square, noting that the ambulance arrived at the scene 7 minutes after the call and transferred the patient to Hospital No. 1 in exactly 6 minutes, which is documented in the relevant paperwork.
This announcement comes in response to criticisms circulated in the media regarding the performance of the ambulance service. The municipality states that during the incident involving a citizen whose condition critically worsened, the ambulance reached the scene just 7 minutes after receiving the call, and the patient was transported to Hospital No. 1 in a total of 6 minutes, as documented.
“Unfortunately, the doctors were unable to save the citizen's life. We deeply sympathize with the family and loved ones of the deceased and request that this incident not be turned into an object of speculation, thereby overshadowing the efforts made by healthcare workers,” the statement reads. It also reminds that, according to current standards, the ambulance brigade must reach the scene within 15 minutes; in this case, the professional medical team arrived just 7 minutes after the call was received.
It is worth noting that Shushan Danielyan, the head of the Yerevan State Medical University staff, confirmed information about the man's death on her Facebook page, writing: “A citizen whose identity has not yet been established was transported by ambulance from one of the tents located in France Square to Hospital No. 1 due to cardiac arrest. All necessary resuscitation efforts were immediately undertaken at the hospital, but unfortunately, all efforts by the medical staff were in vain, and biological death was recorded.”
For reference, since May 2, opposition forces have been conducting rallies in France Square, with some members of the movement camping in tents set up there.
