Video: Incident of Violence Against a Police Officer Recorded

The Investigation Committee of Armenia's Yerevan city is taking appropriate measures to clarify the circumstances of an incident that occurred on May 3, 2022, on Saryan Street, as part of a criminal case being examined under Article 258, part 1, and Article 316, part 1 of the RA Criminal Code.

According to preliminary data, on the same day around 10:00 AM, a member of the Armenian police, while on duty and ensuring public order, presented a lawful demand to the participants of a political opposition march moving from Saryan Street towards Pushkin Street to clear the roadway. Following this, a participant of the march, exhibiting blatant disrespect for the public, deliberately and grossly violated public order, during which he used violence related to his official duties by striking a police officer in the face.

As a result of the measures taken, the identity of the person who committed the apparent crime has been established. Steps are being taken to locate this individual and present them to the prosecuting authority. The pre-investigation continues.
