VIDEO: Actor Sos Janibekyan Subjected to Violence - Investigation Committee Statement

The Investigative Committee has initiated a criminal case under part 4 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia within the Serious Crimes Investigation Division of the Yerevan investigative department, concerning the circumstances of the violence inflicted upon actor Sos Janibekyan. This information was provided by the Investigative Committee.

According to preliminary data, on May 4, 2022, during a march organized by the political opposition, a group of individuals, displaying overt disrespect towards society, spotted Sos Janibekyan walking alone on the street and began to chant indecent expressions. Their deliberate actions grossly violated public order, during which one of the participants used an object in their hand to inflict violence upon the actor.

The investigation is ongoing. Measures are being taken to identify the individuals allegedly responsible for the crime, to differentiate their actions, and to take appropriate measures.
