Patron Davo Released, David Tonoyan Detained: What Wasn't Forgiven to the Former Defense Minister

The newspaper "Patsat" reports. On Monday, May 2, a court session regarding David Tonoyan and others in the so-called "substandard weapons" case was scheduled to take place. It was expected that Tonoyan's lawyers would submit a petition to change the restraint measure.

However, the court session did not take place. David Tonoyan's lawyer Sergey Hovhannisyan informed "Patsat" that the court staff had notified them that the session would not occur, as the judge was absent for personal reasons, and also the escorts could not ensure Tonoyan's transfer due to the situation on the streets of the capital.

The session has been postponed indefinitely, which means that David Tonoyan will remain in detention for at least that same indefinite period. This situation is noteworthy especially considering that several key figures involved in the same case, including Patron Davo (David Galstyan), the head of the arms supplying company to Armenia, are free under various restraining measures. Meanwhile, Tonoyan not only continues to be held in custody but, in fact, has not seen his case discussed. Since January, there has barely been a normal session, and there was no session at all in April.

Just days ago, we wrote that, according to our sources, the authorities would do everything to keep Tonoyan detained for an extended period. It would be interesting to understand over time what has not been forgiven to David Tonoyan that was forgiven to Patron Davo...

More details can be found in today’s issue of the newspaper.
