Former WhatsApp Director Regrets Deal with Facebook
Former WhatsApp commercial director Neeraj Arora has expressed regret for persuading management to sell the messenger to Facebook. This was reported by Business Insider, referencing Arora's tweets.
In several messages, Arora stated that he participated in negotiations between WhatsApp and Facebook in 2014 and convinced his management of the necessity of the deal. He also mentioned that he now considers his past actions to be a mistake and regrets it.
According to him, the deal was sealed with certain conditions that Facebook later violated. In particular, the parties had agreed on the absence of advertising in the messenger and the corporation's refusal to collect personal data from its users.
“Today, WhatsApp is Facebook's second-largest platform, larger than Instagram and FB Messenger. Despite this, in its current form, WhatsApp is merely a shadow of the product we poured our hearts into and wanted to give to the world,” said Arora.
