Compromising Materials Against Members of the CPP Are of Personal Nature, Says Arsen Julfalakyan
The behavior of members of the ruling Civil Contract Party (CPP) is, at times, objective and at other times, incomprehensible. This was stated by Arsen Julfalakyan, a distinguished athlete, candidate of historical sciences, and former member of the National Assembly, during a broadcast on Channel 5.
“There were members of parliament—without naming names—who, in my presence, welcomed my stance when I said that this political force is heading in the wrong direction (referring to September 10, 2020) and that they are ruining everything in the field of education and science. They welcomed my remarks and later, many of them expressed themselves much more crudely, some even used abusive language regarding the political team and the political leader—the Prime Minister. I won’t name them because it’s unpleasant… Subsequently, after November 10, the number of such people increased. I know this because there were individuals with whom I had very good relations until November 10, as I had a different opinion and expected that they would fight, submit their mandates, and so on… unfortunately, there were very few, only five out of 88 is a very poor ratio…” said Julfalakyan.
According to him, there are compromising materials against some members of the CPP, and they are of a personal nature: “Imagine a political team whose compromising materials are personal; this is indicative of disgust. I would like the other members of the second or third echelon of the CPP to hear this so that they understand how they can be treated.”
The former parliamentarian considers the behavior of certain CPP members to be objective, specifically in terms of their sudden transition from being a regular individual to a member of parliament: “Imagine a person who has not achieved anything in life, who has not distinguished themselves in any way; their greatest achievement may have been to be an assistant or advisor to some CPP member, and suddenly they find themselves in the National Assembly as a member of parliament—with status, bonuses, opportunities, and so on… The awareness of these individuals has clouded, they do not understand what dirty games they have entered into with this money; is it worth getting involved in such filthy games for money?”
Moreover, Julfalakyan singled out the lesser-known members of the CPP, stating, “It is incomprehensible what your motivation is, what you expect. Suppose you think this government will last a year or two, then it will go away one day; all these abominations will be exposed, there will be trials, and you will remain under this responsibility—having no real responsibility, you will not be guilty since you are uninformed about the processes. Even the highest-ranking CPP members are clueless about many processes. I assure you, when they proudly sit in broadcasts and start talking about Armenian-Turkish, Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, they are completely unaware; they are being fed false information because their opinions are not taken into account there. You are now making yourselves guilty of a process that you are uninformed about, especially the second and third echelon CPP members; where are you joining this traitorous process?”
