Belgrade and Moscow to Begin Gas Negotiations in Coming Days

Belgrade and Moscow will commence negotiations for a new long-term gas supply contract in the coming days. This announcement was made by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.

“What diversification are we talking about? We will only have the opportunity to obtain gas from somewhere else in two years. We are 100% dependent on Russia, as are several other countries. Over the past month, more than 60% of our oil has come from Russia because it is cheaper,” Vučić noted.

According to him, the West is putting pressure on Belgrade to impose restrictions on Russia. The day before, the European Commission proposed that the European Union gradually abandon Russian oil as part of the sixth package of anti-Russian sanctions. Several countries have opposed an embargo on Russian energy resources.
