This was stated by the head of the Tavush Diocese, His Grace Bishop Bagrat Galstanyan, in an interview with NEWS.am, responding to the threats expressed by National Assembly President Alen Simonian regarding clergy.

“It would be very good if they could respond to these mockeries, rather than trying to gain cheap dividends. This is a friendly advice. I won't say friendly; this is a very mild and delicate advice for all those who will speak in the same manner and style, especially those who will hold a certain office. They have not yet stepped out of the street. Throughout all these years, their style of speech, form, manner, and expressions have been nothing but insults, threats, and boasts. And they should remember about the bunkers, where they were and where they would or wouldn't stick their noses out. Now they are dividing into classes. But what class do they represent?”

According to Bishop Bagrat Galstanyan, this is not the first time such an attitude has been shown towards clergy and intellectuals. It is worth mentioning that Alen Simonian said that they are guilty for not being involved in the companies that are now actively supporting the opposition.

“In the past, both those companies and the stars of show business were afraid to make a sound. Since March 1, some clergymen were afraid to stick their noses out from under the black veils. Yes, we are guilty. It’s alright. I am confident that conclusions will be drawn. I am convinced that all these groups will get to know the conclusions I mentioned up close,” he said.
