Takhoui Tovmasyan Files Complaint Against Arthur Davtyan
The Prosecutor General of Armenia, Arthur Davtyan, has been reported to for a crime. This was announced by Member of Parliament Takhoui Tovmasyan from the 'Honorable' faction on her Facebook page.
“For days, we have witnessed incidents where police officers have used violence against citizens, consequently committing acts dangerous to the public as defined by the Criminal Code of Armenia. In other words, police officers have violated the fundamental rights of citizens by deliberately applying physical force against them, contrary to their will or disregarding their will and causing physical harm in this manner.
There are also numerous cases where, among the police officers maintaining public order at gatherings or other civic actions, there are individuals in civilian clothing who inflict physical pain and exert violence against citizens.
I have sent a letter to the Prosecutor General of Armenia, presenting evidence in the form of videos and photographs, and requesting that my letter be accepted as a report of a crime and that all legally prescribed measures be taken to identify the police officers who committed violence and the circumstances of the crime.
