Freight Train Strikes Woman in Railway Crossing Zone, Victim Dies on the Spot
Today, on May 4th, a tragic incident occurred in the Lori region. Around 12:10 PM, the commander of the 4th platoon of the 2nd battalion of the police patrol service in Lori, Mnatsakan Boyajyan, noticed a woman lying unconscious near the crossing on Tumanyan street in Alaverdi.
Police officers and investigators later determined that on the same day, at approximately 11:55 AM, the driver of a freight train on the Ayroum-Gyumri line, 56-year-old Albert M. from Shirak province, spotted a citizen on the tracks at the 2609 km PK7 Sanahin-Alaverdi section, near the “Haypej” bus stop on Tumanyan street in Alaverdi.
The train driver activated the warning horn; however, the citizen failed to clear the railway traffic area in time and was struck by the train, resulting in her death at the scene.
While an investigative team was examining the site, patrol officers and police identified the deceased as 34-year-old Nelli G., a resident of the Lori region.
