Why is the police boxing citizens? Alen Simonian responds

Aside from growing beards, they repeat everything, but they do not understand that doing the same thing does not mean they will succeed. This was stated by the President of the National Assembly Alen Simonian while discussing the domestic political situation in Armenia.

“The forces that lost during the elections are now trying to raise a wave with the same actors, the same messages, and the same aggression, convincing themselves that everything is going well. It is evident that our citizens have made their choice,” he told reporters at the National Assembly.

He also mentioned that he understands the opposition, stating, “This might be their last chance.” He added, “Many of them, after this experience, I don't believe should return to the National Assembly hall, because their political message has been exhausted.”

In response to the observation that the police are “boxing” protesters, the National Assembly president urged to remove the expression “the police are boxing” from the lexicon. “Generalizing one specific case and presenting it in the plural does not bring honor,” he said.

Alen Simonian considers the actions of the police to be proportional and expresses gratitude for protecting the rights of other citizens and not allowing “small events” to disturb others.

The National Assembly president indicated that on the very first day of the opposition’s rally, there were recorded shots fired from the Azerbaijani side at our border using heavy weaponry. “I leave the conclusions to you; almost always our opposition's actions coincide with either the most important visits or events occurring at the border. I do not consider this a coincidence,” he said.

According to Alen Simonian, the opposition's rallies are gradually becoming less frequent.
