Hitler Also Had Jewish Blood: Russian Ambassador Summoned by Israel's Foreign Ministry Over Lavrov's Statement
Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has summoned Anatoly Viktorov, the Russian ambassador to Israel, to demand clarifications regarding a statement made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, according to newsru.co.il.
In an interview with Italian Mediaset, Lavrov stated, “He (Zelensky) puts forward the following argument: ‘What Nazism can we have when I am Jewish?’ I, if I remember correctly, am afraid to be mistaken, but it seems that Hitler also had Jewish blood. That absolutely means nothing. And we have long heard that the wise Jewish people say that the most ardent anti-Semites are usually Jews themselves. As they say, there is no village without a dog...”
Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid condemned Lavrov's remarks, stating that “the statements by Russia's Foreign Minister Lavrov are not only unforgivable and outrageous but also a terrible historical mistake. Jews did not kill themselves during the Holocaust. Blaming the Jews for anti-Semitism is the lowest level of racism against Jews.”
In addition, Lavrov's comments have been publicly criticized by Israeli Communications Minister Yoaz Hendel, Deputy Minister of Economy Yair Golan, Minister of Social Security Meir Cohen, Knesset’s Legislative Committee Chairman Gilad Kariv, Yad Vashem Chairman Dani Dayan, and the World Zionist Organization.
