Germany Decides to Abandon Russian Gas Sooner, Says Scholz
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has discussed his country’s decision to abandon gas supplies from Russia sooner than initially planned, according to TASS.
He stated that a solution has been found that will “incredibly” accelerate the process. According to Scholz, achieving the goals will require expanding existing infrastructure, as well as utilizing floating terminals that will receive liquefied gas.
Previously, Greece's Minister of Environment and Energy, Kostas Skrekas, stated that European countries should gradually abandon Russian fossil fuels, but do so with a well-thought-out strategy. He warned that EU decisions jeopardize natural gas supplies to Europe.
