Man Kills Mother Out of Revenge with Fists, Investigators Say

The investigation into the murder of a 67-year-old woman has been completed by the regional investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia in Syunik province.

According to the Investigative Committee, on December 13, 2021, between 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM, a 43-year-old man, under the influence of alcohol, attacked his mother in their home on M. Stepanyan Street in the village of Kapan. Motivated by revenge for offensive remarks made by her, he struck her multiple times with his fists, causing severe bodily injuries that resulted in the woman’s death.

Based on a sufficient combination of evidence, the 43-year-old man has been charged under Part 1 of Article 104 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. He has been remanded in custody as a preventive measure.

The preliminary investigation has been completed, and the case has been sent to the prosecutor overseeing the proceedings with a request to confirm the indictment and forward it to court.
