It Is Already Clear, Isn’t It, Armenia and Azerbaijan's 'Peace Agenda': Abrahamyan

The President of Azerbaijan addressed the process of delimitation/demarcation of borders with Armenia today, stating that there is no specific map on the basis of which a future agreement regarding the borders with Armenia will be signed. This was reported today, April 29, by Tigran Abrahamyan, a member of the National Assembly’s 'I Have Honor' faction, on his Facebook page.

“He mentioned that history and the maps that have existed since the Sovietization of the South Caucasus should be taken as a basis, but one should not rely on a single map. As an example, Aliyev emphasized that according to the 1920 map, 'Yerevan and Zangezur were part of Azerbaijan, and Armenia did not have a border with Iran.' It is already clear, isn’t it, Armenia and Azerbaijan's 'peace agenda'?”

“Apart from the fact that Azerbaijan distorts history, it has decided to build its own policy by selectively taking the most favorable circumstances for Azerbaijan from maps of different times, and to resolve all disputed issues within the uncertainty of maps according to its maximalistic approaches and threats of force.”

“By the way, during the meeting today between Prime Minister Pashinyan and Arayik Harutyunyan, the President of Artsakh mentioned that the people of Artsakh accept the 'peace agenda.' Perhaps I am an incurable optimist, but I hope that Harutyunyan’s formulations regarding the 'peace agenda' that he announced on behalf of the Artsakh people are not within the frameworks of Pashinyan and Aliyev’s perceptions and are based on the latest joint statement of the Artsakh parliament, and more specifically, on the approach that Artsakh will never be part of Azerbaijan,” Abrahamyan wrote.
